At-Home Whitening
There are plenty of at-home whitening options for your teeth. If your smile is not as white as you would like it to be and you cannot afford a few hours’ time in the dentist’s chair, let’s take a look at some of your at-home whitening options.
Three basic options exist to whiten teeth at home. For the most part, all at home teeth whitening systems are peroxide based. This is a fairly safe ingredient for home teeth whitening. However, if a product does not have peroxide in, that doesn’t mean it isn’t safe. It just means that you will want to research the product a little before adopting it as an at-home whitening method.
At-Home Whitening Option #1
Purchase a bleach teeth whitening kit for at home use. You can do this through your dentist or even choose an over-the-counter option at the local pharmacy. Some of these at home teeth whitening home kits come in trays or mouthpieces that you have to sleep in. Other at-home whitening bleach options include brushing a special gel on your teeth and then letting it dry. For any of these options, you must do it after your last teeth brushing of the day before bed time. No drinks or food are allowed afterward.
At-Home Whitening Option #2
Other options on how to whiten your teeth at home include special toothpastes and mouthwashes. Of course, for these to work at full effect, you must brush each and every time after you eat and drink. Then there are the teeth strips that you wear two times a day for whitening teeth at home. While the effects may not be permanent, you can see results in about a week or less.
At-Home Whitening Option #3
Home remedies for whitening teeth are an option. Baking soda has long been among the home remedies to whiten teeth. This mighty white powder has long been used for a variety of things and your teeth are just one of those things. Coarse salt mixed in with your toothpaste is another home remedy for teeth whitening as well. Sage leaf or a paste of lemon juice, table salt and ash are other home remedies for teeth whitening too.
Other preventative measure to keep teeth white includes brushing your teeth after each meal, especially when you eat something that is potentially staining such as blueberries. From peroxide based bleaching agents to home remedies, you have several options for at-home teeth whitening.
